Mobile Money Photo of the Week

SingTel M-Remit ServicePhoto of the Week:

This photo was taken in the Lucky Plaza mall in Singapore in March 2013. Singapore Telecom, one of the major investors in Globe Telecom in the Philippines, has recently launched the SingTel mRemit service.  This service allows overseas Filipinos based in Singapore to easily send money back to family and friends via GCASH.  The shop was well positioned at the main entrance of the mall which is arguably one of the most visited malls by Filipinos in the country.  I found the all Filipino staff easy and friendly to deal with and from what I heard and saw, the take up looks quite good.  Several Filipinos I met told me they liked the service since it offered the best fees and exchange rate and was the quickest way to send money.  I was also pleased to see the RBAP-MABS rural bank partners so prominently displayed and promoted. I also learned that links to other mobile wallets in the region is in the plans so this will be an interesting development to watch.
